Sexual harassment comes in a variety of forms and can severely impact harassed individuals, witnesses, and employers. The consequences of harassment may result in legal issues, reduction in workplace morale, and various health concerns. This written continuing education activity will assist in increasing awareness of what constitutes sexual harassment, the impact of harassment, what to do if you are harassed or a witness, the responsibilities of the employer, and the protections that are in place for those reporting harassment.

Learning Objectives

  • Describe sexual harassment and its burden in the workplace environment.
  • Recognize forms sexual harassment such as quid pro quo and hostile work environment.
  • Discuss how to report sexual harassment if experienced or witnessed.
  • Examine whistleblower protections, including examples of what is and is not retaliation.
  • Identify early interventional techniques to help prevent sexual harassment.
  • Outline management steps to appropriately handle a sexual harassment incident from complaint to solution.
