Activity Description

As a pharmacy technician, when operating in a professional environment with pharmacists, doctors, and nurses, there are often demands for a different level of interaction, appropriate collaboration, and proper communication. This activity is designed to strengthen skills to support the need for equal understanding from all perspectives, encourage respectful and tactful communication, and promote satisfactory etiquette. This module will allow the reader to be able to distinguish between correct and incorrect communication and etiquette for the professional specialty pharmacy environment.

Learning Objectives

The target audience for this activity includes pharmacy technicians. Upon completion of this activity, participants will be able to:

  • Discuss the role of pharmacy technicians in interprofessional collaboration.
  • Describe appropriate etiquette in face-to-face and email conversations.
  • Provide examples of appropriate and inappropriate communication.
  • Discuss key considerations for documentation in the EMR/Dispensing Systems.

This CE activity is jointly provided by ProCE, LLC and the National Association of Specialty Pharmacy (NASP). ProCE is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education as a provider of continuing pharmacy education. ACPE Universal Activity Number 0221-9999-20-423-H04-T has been assigned to this knowledge-based, home-study activity. This CE activity is approved for 0.5 contact hour (0.05 CEU) in states that recognize ACPE providers. Completion of an evaluation and post-test with a score of 70% or higher is required to receive CE credit. Proof of completion will be posted in NABP CPE Monitor profiles. No partial credit will be given.
