This webinar presentation will focus on the challenges of antimicrobial stewardship (AMS) in European and low/middle income settings, and explain how rapid diagnostics and biomarkers can help to achieve and elevate the goals of AMS. The utility of biomarkers for AMS will be examined, with an emphasis on the current and future use of procalcitonin (PCT).
The target audience for this activity includes pharmacists and physicians.
At the completion of this activity, the participant will be better able to:
- Describe the clinical outcomes of implementing antibiotic stewardship interventions.
- Employ strategies to more successfully implement antibiotic and diagnostic stewardship interventions in their practice setting.
- Utilize procalcitonin to provide prognostic information, guide antibiotic therapy, and improve clinical outcomes.
